AI Visibility Tracking is the foundation of everything SurgeRank does. Every week, SurgeRank queries the AI engines your buyers use — ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude, and Copilot — and records whether your brand is cited, where in the answer it appears, and how it’s framed. That raw signal is then distilled into a single score and a set of dashboards that make it easy to spot what’s working, what’s slipping, and what to do next.

Your AI Visibility Score

Your AI Visibility Score is a number from 0 to 100 that summarises your brand’s presence across every AI engine SurgeRank monitors. It’s updated each week and accounts for three factors:
  • Citation frequency — how often your brand appears in AI-generated answers for your tracked prompts.
  • Answer position — whether your brand appears early in an answer (higher weight) or as a passing mention near the end.
  • Sentiment — whether citations frame your brand positively, neutrally, or negatively.
The dashboard shows your current score alongside last week’s score and a +/- delta so you can see at a glance whether your visibility is trending up or down.

What the dashboard shows

The main visibility dashboard is organised into four panels that give you both the high-level trend and the granular detail you need to act.

Citations over time

A weekly bar chart covering the last 12 weeks. Each bar shows how many times your brand was cited across all tracked prompts and AI engines. Hover over any bar to see the per-engine breakdown for that week.

Mentions log

A chronological feed of every brand mention detected. Each entry shows the source prompt, the AI engine that generated the answer, a sentiment label (Positive / Neutral / Negative), and a snippet of the answer text for context.

Cited pages

A ranked list of the URLs on your site that AI engines are actively quoting. Use this to understand which content is already earning citations — and to spot high-value pages that aren’t being cited yet.

Per-engine breakdown

A side-by-side comparison of your visibility score on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude, and Copilot. Engines often behave differently — a page cited heavily on Perplexity may not appear on ChatGPT at all.

Citation alerts

When SurgeRank detects a new citation — for example, ChatGPT starts quoting your /guides/ai-seo page for a prompt it previously ignored — it surfaces the change in the dashboard as a highlighted event in the Mentions log. You can also opt in to email alerts so you’re notified the same day a new citation is detected, without needing to log in. To enable email alerts, go to Settings → Notifications and toggle on New citation detected. You can set a minimum sentiment threshold so you’re only alerted for positive or neutral mentions, or receive alerts for all sentiment types.

Tracking multiple domains

If you manage more than one brand, or a single brand with regional variants (for example, example.com and example.co.uk), you can add multiple domains to your SurgeRank account. Each domain is tracked independently and receives its own AI Visibility Score, Mentions log, and Cited pages list. Switch between domains using the domain selector in the top navigation bar. All reports and exports are scoped to the currently selected domain.

On-demand refresh

SurgeRank runs a full visibility refresh on a weekly schedule, but you don’t have to wait for the next cycle. From the Visibility tab, click Refresh now next to any prompt or domain to trigger an on-demand re-check. Results are usually available within a few minutes. On-demand refreshes are useful when you’ve just published new content or made a significant site change and want to know quickly whether it has affected your citation status.
Pin your most important prompts to the dashboard overview for a quick weekly scan. Use the star icon next to any prompt in the Prompts list to pin it — pinned prompts always appear at the top of the overview panel.
